Summer Twister

These highly twisted cotton knits are perfect for travelling and very nice to wear in hot weather. They are in the shops now……..The long skirt can double as a short sundress. RH

Collector`s item

This bedcover is the most complicated piece of fabric ever made for us by the laotian workshop we collaborate with.
Seven vegetable dye coulours are used to make the pattern which is not repeatd anywhere on this cloth.
We are using three shades of indigo, one is mixed with mangobark, and another with the fermented fruit of thai ebony. The yellow is made from the heartwood of cockspur thorn.
The two shades of beige are dyed with the wood of oroxylum indicum.
The two reds are dyed with shellac and shellac mixed with sappanwood.
This fabric is handwoven from handspun yarn on a narrow -width loom. The strips are then joined together by hand.
Only eight pieces were made and when we asked the weavers for more they refused because they thought they were too difficult to make.


There are many more items like aprons & hand towels in this collection. These are my favourites. :

ラオスの工房とコラボレーションして作られた布の中で最も複雑な商品です。
七色に草木染めされた繰り返しのない縞文様のベッドカバー、エプロン、手ぬぐいなど。
藍の色合いは二つ。
一つはマンゴーの木の皮との混色、もう一つはタイの黒檀の実を発酵させた色との混色。
黄色はアメリカデイゴのとげの芯。
二色のベージュはソリザヤノキで染められています。
二色の赤のうち、一つはセラック、もう一つはセラックと蘇芳の木で染められています。

竹の集成材スツール



先日、知人の浮葉さんが竹の集成材スツールを購入されました。
「くっつけて並べると、きれいでおもしろい」と、お話されていて、
そのユニークな発想に楽しくなりました。

浮葉さんのオフィスに置かれたスツールの様子。


名古屋市中区栄、毎日多くの人が行き交う名古屋の中心地に、このオフィスはあります。
実用性のみを重視した、いわゆる無機質な「オフィス」が多い土地柄、オフィスに安らぎを求めるのは難しい。
その名古屋で、このオフィスはちょっとしたオアシスです。 ごちゃごちゃしたものは表に見せない、
シンプル・モダンなオフィス。南向きに天井から床まで伸びる大きな窓が、あわただしい空間に光を与えてくれます。
でも、朝日が差し込み、気がつけば夕日が西のビルの頭に隠れてしまうほど、
忙しい一日が過ぎるのはなんて早いことか。オフィスにも、自然なカタチ、安らぐものが欲しい。
そんな空間は作れないのか？本来は自宅で、自然の中が一番似合うヨーガンレールのものたち。
オフィスに取り入れたらどうだろう？

この自然のカタチは、不思議な力を発揮しています。
入り口の傘立ては、まるで家に入るように我々を迎えてくれる。
竹の籠は、ＥＭＳ，ＯＣＳやＤＨＬのおじさん達の心さえも、きっとなごませているはず。
窓辺の椅子は、光と緑と一緒に我々を包み込み、仕事で疲れた時にも、安らぎを与えてくれる。
時間とともにこの自然のカタチが映し出す影は季節を物語り、今日もほっとするひとときが生まれています。　浮葉

Yuriko`s deep tibet shopping trip
